NIT Jamshedpur.. Then and now !!

It was 16th July 2007, as far as I remember , when i took admission in NIT Jamshedpur and cursed that day for almost a year or so. My first class in the college and no teacher turned up, it was ED that day and 8-12 , we were in the class , in the room there was no current. Every senior who met cursed me for taking computer science in NIT Jamshedpur , "sale 4000 rank lekar , pagal kutte ne kata tha jo yahan aa gya, aur koi college nai mila ... koi nai TCS le jayegi !!"
This turned worst when we had no labs, no college fresher, no current , no swimming pool !!
Well the things change, 2k6 paved the way and we followed, 1st strike, 2nd strike and then a hunger strike ..... result we had 24 hours JUSCO electricity. Come 2nd year and there were C classes for computer science students , quizzes ,prizes,  a failed ( but tried) mentor system... At the fag end of second year we had a successful cryptex, seems the things were changing for good.
With 2k8, the things changed drastically, we called them the lucky batch , but luck favours the brave, a few in 2k6 and 2k7 with untiring efforts from 2k8 revolutionized things .. first car by NIT Jamshedpur, den 2nd ,  den 3rd and the count keeps on increasing every year now .. the college got going and others drew inspiration ... wat was Kartavya till now , turned into Sankalp, the budding social entrepreneurs worked hard to get it registered as an NGO... Not only ground but sky too was ours with some good prizes in aero design I guess ..
It was 4th year for me , and computer science placements were far better, the company I was forced to dream about ie TCS was blacklisted .. and placements were far better than previous batches especially for computer science with Microsoft visiting for the first time.
The mood of achieving heights continues, this year Alumni meet , one guy making it to Microsoft, computer science department's placement best in college history, and then the inception... the stage is set, we can just get better ...
A few guys without whose efforts all this was a dream : Ankur, Rachit, Rajnish, Sukirti,Ishan, sameer, yash modi, sudarshan (all 2k5), Amal Agrawal, Ankit Manaskant,Priyaranjan pandey, Sumit nathani , Govinda, Sharad sir, Abhishek(MSP)(all 2k6), Manish Kumar Jha, Amrendra, mayur, Giri , Amit (Jammy), Anand Jha, Satbir, Hari , satish, Ashish(Linux), Avnish, Aditya, Rana (Zayan sports), Abhishek, Dev Babu..(all 2k7)

  2. True..things were the worst when we landed there...no water..no electricity....no studies....a bad weather and on top of that a real bad sex ratio...:P...but those days too were to be lived....I remember when we entered the worst deptt.of our time...had no work but to keep motivating each other to get the hell out of everything to make it the best department....a few of us (sangam) kept on thinking over the best that could have been done...quizzes,interactive classes, mentor system..blah blah...& then the cryptex..the best event so far.. .it was then utkarsh...cds...the dance auditions....CSI..and many more things happened..which all had made us learn the best ways to deal with any damn thing in the world....

Well gone are the days .. I am happy to know that things are changing at a decent pace there...more classes...:P...better infra..better companies...a better Life...and all this wouldn't have been possible without the earnest efforts of the above mentioned guys n gals...

I wish every coming batch has the same zeal and get NIT jsr somewhere in the sky twinkling as the brightest star..

    Cheers!!

  4. Well being away from active social life ,almost made me miss this wonderfully articulated blog .

14th and 15th Feb , 2009 and the score of events which led to it .. was no doubt most interesting set of days in my life.

Memories of days when Adarsh and me thought of trying for an annual CSE dept magzine and a dept fest later , after we succesfully organised quiz for 2k8 guys , are still fresh.

Well things seem to be changing back at our alma mater.Though , the dark tunnel popularly known as NIT-JSR seems to be bit too long but i can see the light at the other end.

Fingers crossed for golden days ahead !!
